About Selby Highlands

Our first Highlands were two unregistered bred heifers acquired in August of 2000. Since then, the fold has increased to several more Highlands, both registered and nonregistered. Our farm has a focus on beef production, which influences the type of cattle that we keep and breed for. Structural soundness, natural thickness, docility and easy keeping animals are all considerations in our breeding program.

Initially we started out using registered bulls to service our cows. As our land space and genetics have changed, our breeding program has as well. We plan on using AI beginning in the spring of 2011. This will allow us greater diversity in genetics as well as ease in managing our cows, heifers and calves.
